The White Cliffs of Dover are def one of the best places to visit in Kent and make for an awesome London day or weekend trip – check out my ultimate guide to visiting them here. “There’ll be bluebirds over the white cliffs of Dover” sang Vera Lynn and, stood on the edge of Kent, with France clearly visible just under 22 nautical miles away, you can sing too as you stroll along these iconic limestone giants. The famous black taxi tours in Belfast really are a must when it comes to learning about the complex history of this city.

You could easily spend a week or more exploring just the capital, but if you want to get around to some of the UK’s other towns, beaches or countryside areas, there’s plenty of easy day trips you can enjoy from the capital too. London is an obvious place to base yourself if you’re travelling from abroad to the UK. There’s a lot of islands to choose from up here, with some more remote than others, but all offer amazing experiences with their unique landscape, culture and wildlife.

If you’re not confident to do it alone, then this fantastic guided hike to the summit could be just the ticket!

Edinburgh

Daily Star continued its streak of strong year-on-year growth, up 80.6% to an audience of 8.2 million. Sky News (up 8.5% year on year to 19.3 million) and The Sun (up 8.4% year on year to 21.6 million) followed this year-on-year growth, with both seeing month-on-month growth too (10.9% and 0.8% respectively). Six of the top ten newsbrands in the UK saw their audience grow both month on month and year on year in January 2026, according to the latest data from Ipsos iris. The Daily Record saw the biggest month-on-month drop in page views, down 40% to 22.3 million. The Financial Times saw the biggest increase in total minutes spent compared to January, up 11% to 47.5 million. Seven newsbrands recorded month-on-month growth in minutes spent with their content in the UK in February.

Southampton fans have been reacting to the news that the team has been expelled from the play-offs. Home to beautiful countryside and some stunning sandy beaches, the coastline here tends to be much quieter than the south coast and its villages all the more charming for it. If you’re a food-lover, you’ll understandably be drawn to cities – but don’t rule out the scenic Scottish countryside for your restaurant fix just yet. No point heading out to explore the UK and not being able to enjoy a walk in the wonderful countryside. And just up the road in the country of Somerset, it’s time to eat all the cheese and then hike it off care of Cheddar Gorge – England’s longest gorge and quite the natural spectacle! A beautiful woodland area near the Welsh border, the Forst of Dean is a stunning spot to get away from it all, and the Abbey ruins here are the perfect excuse to visit.

Theatre buffs and history heads can visit Shakespeare’s birthplace – now a museum – in Stratford-upon-Avon in England.

Financial Times

A total of 5.3 million minutes were spent with its content in October, down 34% month on month and 53% year on year. Time Out saw the second-biggest year-on-year drop in minutes spent among Press Gazette’s top 50 list, and the biggest drop compared to September. Forbes reported the largest year-on-year audience drop, down 47% to 4.2 million – although it saw small month-on-month growth of 3%. The biggest month-on-month audience decline was at Bristol Live (down 29% to 3.6 million) followed by CNN (down 27% to 2.6 million).
